Day 1

Arrive in Dublin Airport in the early morning, where your driver will meet and greet you at the arrivals hall. Departing Dublin you will head to Wexford in Ireland's southeast via Co. Wickow. You first stop should be at the monastic settlement of Glendalough, a ruined monastic site founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century. The ruins consist of several churches scattered throughout the valley, a 10th century round tower beautifully preserved, a roofless cathedral which are all situated between 2 lakes in scenic surroundings. Here you can also see an audio-visual that will help you understand monasticism in general in Ireland. Forming the southeast corner of the island, County Wexford is Ireland's gateway to the rest of the world - and has been since the earliest times. Norman's, Danes and Celts and the legendary invaders of Irish mythology all chose landing places on Wexford's hundred-mile coastline. All of them put down roots in the county and all of them left their mark on Wexford's rich diversity of culture and heritage.

Day 2

Departing Wexford today, continue on the coastal route to Waterford. Waterford City itself is a fine example of a walled city. The city withstood siege on several occasions in the past but fell to the Normans in 1170 AD. It prospered under the Normans and emerged as the second city of Ireland after Dublin. The city was the chief port of Ireland throughout the middle ages. You may also enjoy a visit to Waterford Crystal Factory - this world-renowned crystal is made here in the city by a skilled team of workers. Dedicated blowers, cutters and engravers into beautiful sparkling crystal, guide visitors through the production area, where they can see the birth of crystal from a white-hot furnace, and then witness its transformation. On your return from the tour, visitors are shown around the Crystal Gallery, which houses one of the world's finest displays of crystal. Departing Waterford City there are some lovely towns on the way to Cork worth taking a detour for, most notably Ardmore and Ballycotton. From Cork City take the Jack Lynch tunnel for West Cork where you will explore some of the coastal towns of South West Ireland - such as Clonakilty and the lovely beach at Inchydoney Island. A few miles from Clonakilty is the beautiful perched village of Rosscarbery with its own lovely beach, Warren Strand with views over the entire West Cork coastline.
